Hi Hi, I'm Navvarr- i've just joined this forum- i regularly post on the Shmups and GamesTM forums.
I've been collecting games since the early 80's- got a big collection ranging from the Vic20 all the way through to the X-Box.
I'd say that gaming is my biggest vice- when ever my wife moans about some of my purchases, I just mention... well, i could be drinking, smoking or doing all sorts of unsociable things- so generally- she leaves me in peace to indulge my passion.
I've two kids- they both love gaming too- i've found that over the years, my gaming tastes have changed from being a solitary gamer to a very much more social gamer.
In general, my favourite genre's are firstperson shooter and also side scrolling shooters.
All the best

Hi Navvarr . . .yes you're right. Whatever your age, colour or creed gaming is a great hobby that doesn't harm anyone. It's a darn sight more socially acceptable than what many people get up to and, like yourself I've been at it since the early 80s.
Everybody has to pass the leisure time somehow and bashingaway at some crazy shooter or racing game has kept me sane on more than one occassion.
Keep at it, bud 8)

Yah, got into gaming in a big way in 1982 and never looked back. And yet another Scotsman on the board. Cool.
My son is still too young to play games properly, so I'm still pretty damned solitary.

welcome - nice to have another scot on the board :)

G' day Navvarr, I'm certain most hardcore gamers are blessed with understanding spouses.
I tell the wife that keeping my hand-eye coordination sharp helps me stay prepared for all the household projects that come up.
And I think it keeps the youthful spirit topped up as well.

I'm going to have to start putting on a Scots accent when I post. Jings. :)
Welcome to the forum, Navarr!

Wait til you get your kids playing multiplayers of Mario Kart and DiddyKong racing- I kind of missed that whole era TBH when i was out and about growing up and getting drunk and going out with mates.
Anyway- there's nothing like a family game of some of these nintendo classics- they are great fun!! -I've got a huge collection of games all for the N64 and Gamecube -purely for family fun.
I still enjoy newer PC games like Stalker too- i keep that for when the kids are in bed.

I have all my Nintendo stuff for future reference. Even the Gamecube is a great console; even if I was horribly disappointed by Mario Sunshine. Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour is one of the finest multiplayer games ever made, and even Mario Kart Double Dash was better than I thought it would be.
Not to mention my bongo's...

Ahh yes, the bongo's many a night i've spent banging away with my bongo's
Have you played Jungle Beat? - its really great fun- i was just playing it about 5 days ago- its not quite a party game- as the other games- but its a real laugh.
