Sad to say that you just never see any other game type other than dance, light gun and the occasional driving title anymore. Lets face it the current consoles can equal and probably outdo arcades horsepower now so the only games that are ever gonna be released in arcades now nvolve complex hardware. Sad indeed. Still reckon there's a gap in the market for a bloke to open an arcade and put together a rake of Mame cabs with classic titles running. It'd be the nearest we're ever gonna get to a classic arcade of the 80's.

There was an attempt to open a retro arcade in Southampton last year, but it didn't last long...

There was an attempt to open a retro arcade in Southampton last year, but it didn't last long...Yeah, one of the guys was a member of the Killercabs forum and posted some pictures. It's sad that it didn't work; but it's no surprise either. Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen him on the forum since then. Probably disillusioned with the arcade scene.

They have a HOD4 in my local cinema complex. Looks a lot better than previous versions but played much the same. Last time I was down in London, earlier this year, the Trocadero had some REAL nice stuff. Mario Super Kart GP, F-Zero AX and Outrun Special Tours were the highlights and Raiden 3 was a nice surprise as well. If you're an arcade buff then I would say the Trocadero is the best place to visit.

Played Super Mario Kart GP in an arcade in Leven, wasnt impressed when I won the race only to find out that to continue I had add more money!!!!

Over in Toronto theres a spot called Playdium. Site is playdium.com I played Sega's Lets Go Jungle which cost about 40 quarters for 2 players to play for 15 minutes. It was fun while it lasted, but I'll wait for a console version rather than pay that kind of money. Here's the site that sells it. Only $10 000. www.bmigaming.com/games-videositdown-hm.htm

Most of the arcades in Skegness are newer machines now - HOTD 4, Time Crisis 4. Still one or two older driving games like Suzuka and Sega Rally.

I just got Metal Slug today, and it's new to me. Does that make it a new arcade game?

NAVVARR- 09-19-2007

Played Super Mario Kart GP in an arcade in Leven, wasnt impressed when I won the race only to find out that to continue I had add more money!!!! Yip, i read that somewhere- hardly gonna make you want to play on. I've not played it- but i imagine that its.. well .Mario Kart- fun, but not a lot new

Yeah . . .I was having a browse over at system 16 and i noticed the arcade board that runs Mario Kart GP is based on Gamecube technology. Strange, then, that there has never been a mention of a port which would be relatively easy, I would suppose . . . . . .and the Gamecube should be able to handle it because the port of F-Zero AX was very good. And you wouldn't have to keep pumping quids into the ol' Gamecube . . . :o

They could probably do a Wii version, as that's just a Gamecube with a bit of slap on.
