Ridge Racer 6 on XBox 360 Dunno about anyone else, but I think this is about as good as racing games get - funwise.
I know it's fashionable for all the petrolheads to go for sims and modding and all that old bollocks but this game is pretty deep with loads of areas to explore and stuff to unlock.
The drifting technique is entertaining too and sets it apart as a pure arcade romp with some very nice graphics . . .some say better than the more recent PS3 version.
I'm not a racing game expert, by any means, but it's quite a challenge too. I've been at it for 72 hours of gameplay and I'm only 32 % through the World Explorer with about 3/4 of the cars unlocked.
If you have fond memories of the old PS1 launch version (which to my mind is STILL one of the great retro games) then this will be just up your street.
If I can figure out how to get my free 1 month XBox Live Gold Account, I'm gonna take it online and really embarrass myself - although it's probably an uncool game to be seen with online these days . . .

Yep, RR6 is indeed a fantastic game. Once you've mastered powersliding the game really opens up. I'm about the same stage into the one player mode as you and have heard that the game really kicks in with the later cars / tracks.
Considering you can pick it up for about a tenner second hand you'd be mad to miss out of this.

Yes indeed . . .I've seen it in the 2 for £20 section at Gamestation. I really don't know why it got such lukewarm reviews - about 6 or 7 out of 10 the average. Although having played Ridge Racer and Rage Racer to death on the PS1, I suppose I'm a bit biased.
BTW have you played any of the other racing games on the 360 ??
I've got Test Drive Unlimited, PGR 3 and Import Tuner but have been too engrossed with RR6.
I've had a bash at the demos of NFS Most Wanted and Carbon also Burnout Revenge. Haven't bought them because I don't know how much better they are than the PS2 versions.
Any opinions on those . . . :?:

I did have TD Unlimited but found it did nothing for me as you really have to invest a lot of tiime in with it, something I dont have much off unfortunately.
I've picked up Forza 2 and DIRT after reading rave reviews by my mates.
RR6 thankfuly is very much a pick it up and play title.
