San Francisco Rush I remember the first time I saw this classic, I thought to myself, finally something that offers more than the 'Crusin' (USA, Exotica) series.
Though more tracks would have been appreciated, it certainly delivered in the speed and thrills department.
It was pretty unique catching so much air-time in a racer back then, using the elevated terrain and skyscraper roofs to create kickass crashes. Still see a few kicking around in truckstops around Ontario.

Never played any of the Rush games. You can get them on some of the Midway Arcade Treasure disks no?

Yeah . . .I remember playing that on the Dreamcast shortly after i saw it at an Arcade show at Earls Court in London. It reminded me of the Cruisin' games but with better graphics and some hidden routes as I recall.
As a fan of arcade racing games I think the Midway games were underrated and certainly not as bad as many of the reviews seemed to indicate.

Midway was very imaginative with their track designs and use of colour.
I really liked California Speed, which was ported to N64. As far as I know, it was the only game that you got to race on a roller coaster

I just checked Midways site http://midwayarcade.com/
It looks like disc 3 is a good deal, since it has 2 Rush games, and Hydro Thunder, which I still play pretty often cause it has a great variety of locations.

Actually, Hydro Thunder is the most fun I've had with a racing game in the arcade - albeit a water-based one.
As I said earlier, I used to attend the ATEI show at Earls Court each January and one year they had it on display . . .free credits and all . . .man, what a rush :!:
Somehow the many conversions failed to capture the intensity of the coin-op, or the excitement . . . but I don't have 8 grand to spare at the moment for a single cabinet . . .

I agree that the conversions of Hydro Thunder never quite brought it home, but the PC version is fairly decent.
It took me ages to unlock those last bonus courses, cause like you said, they're friggin boats.

Yeah . . .I dunno if the coin-op was the same because i didn't really get that far in, but the conversions I played seemed to get unfairly hard very quick . . .
