The Commodore 64 Book - coming soon I'm in the process of writing a book about Commodore 64 games, as a follow-up to Andrew Rollings' ZX Spectrum book (see more about that book at http://zxgoldenyears.com )
There are over 200 different games reviewed, stretching from 1982 to the present day, with each page featuring a game with cover artwork, screenshots and trivia about the game and the people who created it. And the foreword has been written by a well-known gaming celebrity.
For a sample chapter, go to http://c64goldenyears.com/sample/1982_web.pdf
To pre-order the book, go to http://c64goldenyears.com - where you'll also find an author's diary and more information on the games featured.

Yo' Merman - would you ever consider writing a speccy one? or would that be crossing a line?

merman, I guess you know what you are talking about regarding C64 games.
I was pretty late to this particular party as I was a Spectrum boy, and only started playing C64 games when I got a cheap GP32. I found many delights, especially things like Magnetron (Quazatron was fantastic on the Spectrum), Idris Alpha as well as the usual suspects of Paradroid, Uridium, Sanxion etc.
In your opinion, what are the best C64 games?

There is already a Spectrum one - http://zxgoldenyears.com
Personally, there are a few Spectrum games I really love and several very good games you can't get on the C64. But I wouldn't write a book just about the Spectrum now, it would most likely be a joint 8-bit book...
Good to see you mention Iridis Alpha as I am a Jeff Minter fan - Mama Llama, Batalyx, and more.
In terms of all time favourites on the C64, they would include Wizball, Paradroid, The Sentinel, Laser Squad, the Epyx Games series, Impossible Mission and Stunt Car Racer.
